Whenever you take an authentic Japanese lacquer ware - ‘urushi’ - into your hands, you surely will be surprised by its perfect precision and artistic quality. Our aim is to transfer these excellent manufacturing techniques of traditional Japanese lacquer ware onto contemporary products, that show the same sensual quality with modern and timeless design.

Every product of the ‘Japan Lacquer Design’ range has a pure geometric form like sphere, cube or cylinder.
By formal addition, subtraction or multiplication of these basic shapes, the products received additional functions or convert surprisingly into a new product.

For example, the stacking trays can be used as normal trays, when used separately. However, when stacked into each other, a new form is generated that can be used as larger tray or that works as an object in itself. The service plates do not have a deepening on top, but an entirely flat surface. Just the outer shell is a reminiscence to customary plates. The small side table has a doubled top with an identical shape, whereas the upper top can be taken off and used as a tray.

You will experience many more of these surprising functions and hidden qualities. They are evidence of the high abilities of ‘urushi’ craftsmen, that made this perfection and exactness of manufacturing possible.

To reach such a high manufacturing quality it takes a very time-intensive production process. Especially nowadays, where our whole society is driven by speed and efficiency, we are proud to offer you ‘Japan Lacquer Design’ with its inestimable value beyond times and generations.
